What is a contest worth when the outcome is sold like meat at market? Who pays for that betrayal, the rich men in suits, or the families who saved for one night in the arena? If a player sits out on purpose, if a coach nods along, that is not injury, that is theft. The federal court can name the crimes, wire fraud, conspiracy, whatever the papers say, but the wound is faith. Fix the rules, yes, but also fix the hunger that says profit is holy and truth is optional.
