Free speech is not a free pass to be ignorant, and it is not a free pass to harass someone either. A silly claim on a podcast, even one as loaded as 'Wales shouldn't be its own country,' is not a crime, but death threats and doxing are. The moment a debate becomes a hunt, the law should care, and the platforms should act, because intimidation is the point. It is also reasonable to ask for accountability when large audiences are involved, which is why her apology and her own admission that she didn't know the history matter. The correct remedy is more context, not more cruelty. Teach the basics: devolution after the 1997 referendum, the Government of Wales Act 1998, and why people still bring up Welsh Not and Tryweryn. Then enforce rules against harassment with the same energy people use to quote clips. If you want a safer internet, start by making consequences fall on the threatening behaviour, not on the existence of a bad opinion.
