In the sunbelt, we used to dream about exactly this kind of thing: private enterprise teaming up with a growing state to create new jobs, new tourism and a little more excitement after dark. A unanimous vote from 30 owners says the market has spoken, and it is speaking fluent Vegas. I understand the pain in Oakland, but clinging to a failing stadium and a broken deal would not magically bring back the glory years of the 1970s. If Nevada believes a $380 million package will pay for itself in payrolls, hotel taxes and spin off business, I say let them try to win that bet.
