If advertisers can quietly decide which ideas are allowed to survive, who elected them the guardians of democracy. Musk’s words about antisemitism were reckless and dangerous, but he is right about one thing: a handful of corporations should not be able to threaten a platform into silence by shutting off the cash. The challenge now is to prove that free expression and basic human dignity can stand together without letting either be bought.
